Leadership and working together

Thriving Teams

Supervisors can't hand out motivation, but they can build the conditions for it. Drawing on decades of motivation research, this session looks at what keeps people engaged: some control over how they do their work, the chance to keep getting better at it, and real connection with the people around them.

Supervisors leave with specific changes to how they assign work, give feedback and run meetings.

Emotional Intelligence for Leaders

Strong technical skills get people into leadership; how they handle themselves and others decides how they perform there. This workshop builds the everyday skills behind steady leadership: recognizing what you're feeling and why, staying composed under pressure, reading what's happening on your team, and handling difficult conversations.

Participants take a self-assessment, practice each skill with realistic scenarios, and leave with a plan for one real situation they're facing.

The Multigenerational Workplace

Many teams now span several generations, each with different habits around communication, feedback and technology. This session moves past stereotypes to what actually helps: understanding where the differences come from and adjusting how you communicate.

Teams leave with ways to pair long experience with newer skills, including team and reverse mentoring.

Service Excellence

For staff who work with the public, the hardest part of the job is often the interaction, not the task. This session focuses on staying calm with upset or demanding people, setting clear expectations, and responding consistently.

Participants practice real situations from their own front lines, including how to recover after a hard exchange so it doesn't carry into the next one.

Well-being

The Science of Happiness at Work

Most of us are surprisingly bad at predicting what will make us happy: the raise, the title and the new purchase fade faster than we expect. This session walks through what the research actually shows, including how much the quality of our relationships matters.

Participants leave with simple, evidence-based practices they can start that week, such as noticing what went well and using their strengths more at work.

Stress Less, Work Happy

Stress affects sleep, health, judgment and how people treat one another at work. This session explains in plain language what stress does to the body and mind, then turns to what helps.

Participants leave with small daily habits, ways to recover during a demanding day, and ideas for how a team can lower stress for each other.

Beyond Balance: Work and Life

A perfect balance between work and home is rarely realistic. This session focuses on integration instead: boundaries that hold, healthy ways of coping when work and home both make heavy demands, and recovering from hard weeks before they turn into burnout.

Participants leave with a personal plan for one boundary and one recovery habit.

Judgment and decision-making

How Good Decisions Get Made

Our minds make quick judgments all day, usually without our noticing, and most of the time that serves us well. Through live exercises such as the anchoring experiment, participants see common thinking traps in action. The emphasis is on normal human functioning, not blame.

Teams leave with simple habits for slowing down and checking their thinking when a decision really matters.

Conformity and Obedience

Why do good people sometimes go along with decisions they know are wrong? Drawing on classic research in social psychology, this session looks at how group pressure and authority shape what people do.

Leaders leave with practical ways to build a workplace where people speak up before small problems become big ones.

Leading Humans in the Age of AI

As AI takes on more analytical work, the skills that stay human, such as judgment, trust and emotional intelligence, matter more. What that means for leaders and teams right now.

Leveraging AI at Work

A hands-on session on practical, everyday uses of AI tools for drafting, summarizing, analysis and planning, along with the privacy questions to ask before anyone puts work information into them.

Workshop

Behind the Mask

What research tells us about psychopathy, how it differs from the movie version, and why understanding it matters in workplaces and communities.

How it works

  1. An initial conversation. We learn who will attend and what you want to change.
  2. A written proposal. You receive the agenda, format and fee for your review.
  3. The session. Delivered in person anywhere in the U.S., or virtually.
  4. Follow-up. We share the participant evaluation, a brief summary and recommended next steps.

Keynotes run 60 to 90 minutes, workshops 2 to 4 hours, and series meet over several weeks. Public-sector and education rates are available.
